EGG HARBOR LODGE One of the most spectacular views in Door County. Keep your doors ajar at night to hear the whistling and pounding of the wind waves on Lake Michigan.

ORCHARD COUNTRY WINERY AND MARKET A great way to spend a few hours sampling freshly picked apples and cherries. Standouts are the cherry pies hot from the oven. The market offers a large selection of jams, jellies, and mustards.

WASHINGTON ISLAND FERRY LINE INC CHERRY TRAIN One of my most enjoyable days was taking the ferry to Washington Island, (a 30-40 minute ride). Known as the crown jewel, it is a large island in Green Bay. Don’t miss the Stavkirke a replica of a style of church common in Norway during medieval times. It is a reminder of the many Scandinavian settlers to the area.

WHITEFISH DINES STATE PARK Walk along the sandy dunes, the highest in Wisconsin. History buffs will love the nature centre within the park, home to 8 significant Native American villages from 100 B.C to the late 1800’s. Bird watching is also popular at the park.

PENINSULA PLAYERS THEATRE Celebrating more than 75 years, the theatre is America’s oldest professional resident summer theatre. The engaging and thoroughly entertaining, “Lombardi” is a look at life, relationships and the passion of football legendVince Lombardi.

ROWLEY’S BAY RESORT AND GRANDMA’S SWEDISH BAKERY A local whispers to me that I should try the decadent pecan rolls here, and they do not disappoint. A gargantuan warm roll piled high with pecans and sticky syrup is served to me. Lots of other pastries and pies to choose from.

THE OLD POST OFFICE RESTAURANT An experience- watch as freshly caught Lake Michigan white fish is cooked outside over an open fire just as it was by Scandinavian settlers 100 years ago on the Peninsula.
