Layering is key to Fall and Winter's rich, golden look. CSL was impressed by the lightweight fabrics and jewel tones that appeared beside classic bowties and buttoned vests at Harry Rosen’s Fall 2010 preview room.  Taking a decidedly modern if truncated turn are pants (this season ankle bearing pants are the rage) - all the better to reveal beauteous boots.   Bowties made an appearance with puffer jackets; abbreviated wool ties with knit cardigan jackets; and bright patchwork bags with plush sweaters.   One thing is certain – for menswear this season it is all in the details.

For fall 2010 the experts at Harry Rosen forecasted four major trends:

1. The Grey Suit

A foundation colour, grey was the star of menswear catwalks this season, most notably at Zegna. Flat front trousers, and a clean aesthetic inspired by suit dressing of the 1950s and 1960s creates a uniquely modern look.

Get the Look: Eton white spread collar shirt, folded, pocket square, classic dress shoe, grey suit

Suit Brands: Ermenegildo Zegna

Chelsea Boot: Salvatore Ferragamo

2. Sport Jacket

“The sport jacket is the single most important item in a man's wardrobe for all occasions,” declares the experts at Harry Rosen. Layering merino cardigans, sweater vests, cashmere pullovers and scarves is key to this look inspired by an easy sophisticated European lifestyle.

Get the Look: Ankle bearing pants, chukka boot in leather or suede, scarf, jacket

Key Brands: BOSS Black, Z Zegna, Loro Piana

3. Casual Sportswear (Urban Adventurer)

The Canadian backwoods and rugged coasts lend their plaid shirts, brushed flannel, knit sweaters, down vets and fur trimmed parkas to casual sportswear this season.

Get the Look: Carrier bag, work or army boot, denim or cargo pants, outerwar in wool Melton or cotton canvas

Key Brands: Canada Goose, Gant Rugger, Fred Perry

Work Boot: BOSS Orange

Army Boot: Donald J. Pliner

4. Ivy League

Sports such as rugby, polo and lacrosse from American and English prep school with their carigans, cashmere and wool influence this look.

Key Brands: BOSS Black, Fred Perry

High Top Sneaker: Converse by John Varvatos
