The coolest kid on the block this season?  Mom jeans.  The tweaks this season are edgier with patchwork detail, acid wash and zipper details that will add instant chic to any outfit.

TOP OF THE CROP

Love it or hate it, 1990’s style is back with a vengeance, and this includes higher waisted, loose fitting, cropped denim.  Think you can’t get away with this look?  If you’re short, choose denim that is cropped just above the ankle, and pair with mules with a higher heel, while tall girls can get away with most lengths.  Have fun with the trend with a lighter acid wash, bra top and silk bomber (as seen at Phillip Lim (left), or for a more laid back approach, wear a patchwork style with a feminine off shoulder top.  Any way you choose, you’ll be sure to look right on the money.

4 Ways to Try the Belted Trend:

The focus this Spring 2017 season is all about the waist – whether drawing the eye in through a corset, or baring the middrift.  The easiest way to focus on your teeny tiny mid section, is by wearing a belt.  Here are a few of CSL’s favourites.

 1.  This bold mix of print is accentuated with a touch of glam with a metallic belt and matching chunky earrings to create a polished yet quirky vibe.

 2.  Add texture to a neutral, earthy palette with a monochromatic woven style belt worn higher on the waist and an oversized carryall.

 3.  Break up head to toe pattern with a classic medium thickness black belt, which grounds the look and creates a long silhouette.

 4.  Cinch in the waist of an oversized boxy blazer with a fastener style belt that matches the same colour of your suit.   Add a belt charm for a touch of interest.
