Craft Mocktails are here to stay. Any Questions?

Any good mixologist will tell you that the secret to a good cocktail is balance. The same is true (even more so) for mocktails, where a hint of sweetness a dash of sour, a little sparkle and the refreshing notes from herbs should come together to create something surprising for the palate.

Any good mixologist will tell you that the secret to a good cocktail is balance.  The same is true (even more so) for mocktails, where a hint of sweetness a dash of sour, a little sparkle and the refreshing notes from herbs should come together to create something surprising for the palate.

Mocktails are to the cocktail industry what the rise in vegetarianism is to the culinary world and with increasingly discerning tastes, guests don’t want to be considered an afterthought — they want a fair share of the action too.

The current trend is fizzy and frozen mocktails where a balance of soda, syrup and herbs are essential.  Move over cold pressed juice, craft mocktails just walked in.

HOW TO MAKE YOUR OWN MOCKTAIL

Use this formula to create fun combinations

The Syrup
Stew fruit with a tablespoon of sugar and squeeze of lemon juice.  Cool mixture and strain.

Bubbles
Add enough sparkling water to the syrup to taste.  A splash of tonic water balances sweetness.

The Herbs
Muddle herbs in glass to add a third element of interest.

Try A Frozen Strawberry Daiquiri Mocktail
Freeze strawberries and combine in blender with simple syrup and lime. Top with mint and a splash of sparkling water (optional).
