From throwbacks to the 1980s and 1990s to updates of last season’s favourites (read: off shoulder 2.0) and colour staples you need to own, you’re gonna have fun dressing up this spring! CSL breaks down Spring 2017’s top trends.

1/ CHECK PLEASE
Make a Statement with the check pattern. Once reserved for the picnic table, this grunge staple takes a turn with a feminine silhouette.

2/ TRICK UP YOUR SLEEVE
Pump it up! A nod to the puffy sleeves of the 1980s, this season’s focus on the arms includes bell sleeves, oversize cuffs, and bubbly blousons.  Balance all of this volume with skinny pants, or an abbreviated hem.

3/ COLD SHOULDER
The off shoulder trend is here to stay. Showing off your shoulder(s) may just be the least obvious, but oh, so effective way to add a flirty touch to your wardrobe.

4/ DO THE WAVE
This season’s ruffles are girly but unexpected. Think ruffled leather bags, shoes and random rows of ruffles on sweatshirts and Spanish inspired details. Olé!

5/ SHIRT DRESSING
Take this standard office staple to the next level. Update the classic oxford shirt with new construction – bell sleeves, pockets, off shoulder, one shoulder, and layered over a dress are the way to go.

6/ STRIPES
Graphic meets performance wear to get your heart racing. Zebra pants, dresses, jumpsuits and sports bras all came in elongating vertical stripes with a hint of athletic wear. While crop tops in primary hues sported horizontal stripes. Keep it modern with flatforms or sneakers.

9/ FIT AND FAB
All the cool girls are wearing it– even the ones who skip the gym. Windbreakers, sneakers, and even a nod to the head-to-toe matching tracksuit (yes, it’s true!) were all over the catwalks.  Show a little skin, keep the hair straight and makeup simple to give this look a go.
