There’s nothing more time consuming than changing your diet.  However, even small tweaks can make all the difference.  Start with lunch.  Here are 5 easy ways to up your nutrition game in 2020.

In living Colour

Eat (and drink) the rainbow — of veggies, that is.  A variety of colourful fruit and vegetables provide different benefits, from antioxidants and anti-inflammatory properties to reducing cholesterol and boosting brain function.

Spice up your Life

Capsaicin found in chili peppers holds anti-inflammatory properties.  Try a poke bowl, topped with slices of jalapeno and spicy sriracha mayonnaise for a healthy dose of heat.

Variety is Key

Change up your salad game and make sure to cover all ground, incorporating greens, protein, healthy fats and carbohydrates.  Skip store bought dressing and make your own, so that you can control the amount of salt and oil.

Triple D (Don’t discount dairy)

Go authentic Italian and opt for a few slices of fresh mozzarella melted on top. The calcium-rich cheese helps build strong bones.

Taco 2.0

Opt for soft corn tortillas instead of fried shells.  Try substituting marinated and grilled tempeh instead of meat and fill with plenty of shredded cabbage and pico de gallo to boost the fiber. Top with gut healthy Greek yogurt instead of fat rich sour cream.
