UPDATE THE LIVING ROOM

According to a three-year analysis done by Point2, an international real estate search portal, Google searches show a shift in buyers’, renters’ and homeowners’ interests clearly indicating that the pandemic has influenced our homes. Searches include: ways to improve the living space, home office design, apartment plants, and house renovation. Remember, you don’t need to do a major overhaul to update a space. Focus one simple change that can have major impact. Case in point – a colourful wainscotting feature wall.  Keep in mind: scale, proportion and simplicity with a hint of bright colour to revive a dull, tired room.

Did you know that replacing a kitchen faucet is one of the easiest fixes you can do yourself?  Updating an old leaky faucet is as simple as:
1.  Disconnect water. Disconnect water lines from faucet, and gently pry out old faucet.
2.  Place the rubber or plastic trim ring over the faucet holes in the sink and set the deck plate with a small amount of putty.
3.  Feed the faucet lines down through the holes and reconnect water supply.
4.  Turn the water on slowly, check for leaks and tighten connections if necessary.

CREATE THE ULTIMATE HOTEL-STYLE BEDROOM

The sumptuousness of a hotel bedroom is much sought after, especially with more and more of us spending time at home. The key to creating the look?  Lighting. Jo Plismy, owner of Gong, who has designed lighting for hotels worldwide, shares her four lighting tricks to achieve a delightful hotel inspired sanctuary:

Pendants: Instead of using table lamps hotels use pendants above bedside tables which are both stylish and practical and allow for more space

Chandeliers: An impactful, statement light.  Don’t be afraid to go bold.

Uplighters: Otherwise known as a dimmer.  Use to create a different atmosphere from day to evening. Table Lamps & Wall Lights: A classic on each side of the bed to create ambient light and enhance bedroom décor.
